Anthropologie Sailboat Skirt Review

Sailboat Skirt by Odille $78usd/$88cad

This skirt really is pretty long, I am 5'6 and it hits me at my knees.  I liked the fit of the 0 on me, so I'm going to say it fits TTS.  The skirt is comfortable and light weight.  Fabric is very soft and the color that you see on the Anthropologie website is quite true to real life.  Pretty well made skirt and a decent price point for Anthropologie.  I may be the only one in the blogosphere that isn't all that crazy about the Sailboat Skirt.  I didn't like the faded look on the fabric, nor did the large print work for my taste.  But I can see why so many people are enamoured with it.

two weeks from today

Two weeks from today I will be facing the biggest and scariest challenge in my life.  It has taken me three years to finally reach this decision.  Three years of hoping and searching for an alternative solution, three years of praying for a miracle...in vain.

Surgery awaits me in two week's time.

I am not brave, I am incredibly scared and stressed.  But I have come to terms with it and accept that this is something that needs to be done.  This also means that I will disappear for quite some time, I am not sure how long but have been told that recovery may take up to two months.

I have a pre-surgery appointment early next week and then the big day will come sooner than I'd like.

Anyways, I am not saying good bye just yet.  But just in case I don't get the time to share this before my disappearance, at least you know I haven't decided to quit blogging.

Club Monaco fitting room reviews

I really adore Club Monaco's current collection.  Everything is so flowy, feminine and chic.  Instead of bright colors, you will find endless creams, grays and whites, which in my opinion is perfect for the summer.

Julia Skirt here. $179cad/ $159usd
Really nice skirt, so flowy, airy but not bulky.  I really liked the uneven hem, which you don't really notice at all when you have the skirt on.  My store was sold out of size 0, I am wearing size 2, which looks fine I think.

Melrose Shirt $119
Cute, comes with a camisole.  The one I have on is already missing a couple buttons, so beware when you are purchasing.  Sleeves are a bit long.

Another lovely skirt from Club Monaco.  Fits perfectly in my usual size 0.  Great work appropriate length.

Gull Wing Dress
Fit is the same, still fabulous.  This print is okay, I don't dislike it, but I am not crazy about it.

Mompos Dress
Silhouette is feminine and flattering.  Dress is comfortable and fits well.  I was instantly drawn to the scalloped laced hem and the bow belt once I had it on.  All in all, It is a very very sweet dress.  I really liked it but this one is not practical for my life style, it's too sweet for me to ever consider at full price or even first markdown.

Readymade Dress (thank you Vanessa)

It's casual and comfortable.  I personally think this dress is a must with a belt.  In the picture on the right I lifted the waist a bit (which a belt would do) and it improved the look.

Go Getter

I can't rave enough about these Anthropologie Go Getter Pants.  The cotton twill is so soft and smooth, and most importantly, fit is amazing!   With my trusty navy striped top, I am off to enjoy this gorgeous summery Saturday.

Incorporated Dress popped back in XS.  I know it doesn't look all that exciting but it's actually really cute and comfy once you have it on.  It looks really great with a belt.  I highly recommend it, and think it's totally worth the $30 price tag!  Still waiting for mine in the mail otherwise I'd love to post some irl photos.

Red white and blue is a color combination I wear a lot in the summer.  Luckily, it's a color combination that's fool proof and easy to pull together.

I haven't got anything to talk about today...other than I love the waist band details on this Peppered and Striped skirt from Anthropologie, but unfortunately my skirt is one size too big for me, so I needed a belt to hold it up higher on the waist.

News flash: I made a couple corrections/updates to my Joe Fresh post below.  Also Club Monaco's new arrivals have officially hit the stores, this roll out includes a lace vest and a pair of lace/crochet shorts.

Bow Trench  $25
UPDATE: Correction! This coat is marked down to $25 at the Joe Fresh stores (Loblaws Superstore still sells it for $59).  I have been told that the Loblaws Superstores are separate from the Joe Fresh stores, therefore markdowns/prices can be different.

Anyways, this trench looks all business from the front, however, the back has a very cute bow detail.  Trench is available in black and tan, and currently marked down to $25 (reg was $59 I believe).  I didn't get to try one on because the store I was at was sold out of my size, but from what I can see, it's definitely worth the $25.

Short Sleeve Ruffle Cardigan  $29

Very cute, I believe fabric was a cotton blend.  It comes in an assortment of colors, my favourite was yellow.


Silk Blouses $39

$39 is a pretty amazing price point for 100% silk blouses!!!  The white one is new arrival, so your chances of finding it in your size is pretty good.  The blouse has two shoulder epaulets, a chest pock and bow tie around the neck.  There's also a green version that looks very similar (in the same color as the the top worn by model on the far left) but was from an earlier delivery, so sizes may be picked over.

I am quite impressed by Joe Fresh's latest offerings and after watching their Fashion Week slide show here, I cannot wait to see their new deliveries.

Club Monaco in store vs shopbop prices

I have noticed that the stores seem to mark down items faster than shopbop.  Here are a some of the items I have seen and tried on over the last little while at my local stores.  Keep in mind that these sale prices are in Canadian Dollars, in some cases they might be even slightly cheaper in the U.S. stores.

Club Monaco offers charge sends for a $7 flat fee in both U.S. and Canada.  So if you are interested in something but don't have access to a Club Monaco store, you can call and have a charge send arranged and the item will be delivered to your door.  

Camilla Shirt

$39 vs $89

This shirt is okay, fabric is amazing.  You can size up without it looking frumpy, but keep in mind I generally have high tolerance for loose fitting clothes.  

Laura Dress

$59 vs $132.30

However, I never knew this dress actually comes with a belt.  All the ones I have seen in the stores were belt-less.  This dress is actually kind of versatile, you can wear it front or backwards, and the 'cowl neck' can be moved to the front or the back.  The cowl neck is quite voluminous, and slightly awkward looking.  

Ava Blazer

$99 vs $138.60

This blazer comes in a khaki green as well, which is actually marked down to $69, while navy is still $99 as stated above.  Great casual drapey look.  

Giana Skirt
$49 vs $129

Fabric is nice and thick.  It's a longer length which makes it great for work.  This definitely feels more like a fall/winter skirt.  Classy silhouette.  I found it fit TTS.

quick reviews and more lace cravings

Dotty Shorts  $88usd/$98cad

Very cute, fits true to size.  Buttons were slightly annoying to deal with.  Fits true to size, I am wearing size 0.  Length were shorter than I expected.  I think silk shorts are a bit too high maintenance for me, so I am passing on them at regular price.  If I can still find them once sale hits I'm definitely picking it up.

Air Spun Stripes Tee by Splendid  $39.99

Fits true to size, wearing XS.  As with any Splendid tee, they are comfortable and usually a good fit.  Very soft and light t-shirt.  I like the red stripe with the grey contrast trims.

Edelweiss Shift  $178usd/$218cad

Well made lace shift dress. Great length! Unlike most other lace dresses that I find to be very short.  Comfortable and generous fit.  Similar to most lace shifts, this dress is not shapely.  I personally prefer 3/4 length sleeves on dresses like this, so this is a pass for me at regular price.  However, once marked down I may consider it.  The white color is nice, not a starchy white.  I think if you have been looking for a lace shift dress, this is a pretty good candidate.

Speaking of lace shift dresses, which is my current obsession.  I found some super cute ones from Lily Pulitzer.

Shayna Dress
Comes in a butterfly print and a daisy print.  Daisy print is available in black and white.
