Lovely

Wow, I can finally feel spring's arrival!

Today has been simply lovely so far.  We had a lovely long walk to the lovely Lai Toh Heen and had a lovely dim sum lunch there.

Feeling quite a narcissus today for posting so many photos, but I am just loving our brand new camera.  So happy that I no longer have to stand still awkwardly, I can move about as freely as I like.

Team Pink

DF said that I look like I'm wearing a team jersey, like those colored bibs/vests they hand out when you play team sports.  Is there a name for those things?

Anyways, I don't mind, for today I am happy to be on team pink.

I am wearing:
Muji sriped long sleeve tee.
Anthropologie short sleeve tee.
Zara jeans.
Sigerson Morrison bow flats.

I found you!

Yes, it took many many many phone calls, but I succeeded!! and I bring you the insanely popular and sold out Juicy Couture Lace Shift Dress.

Overall, this is a very adorable dress, lots of details I love.  Body of the dress is lined - fully lined and stitched in (awesome!), as suppose to having a removable slip- but I still found it slightly sheer.  Fabric content is 100% cotton for the lace and the lining, and 100% silk for the trim (which there really isn't all that much of).  This dress being all cotton was very comfortable on and static was not an issue, which is one of my biggest beefs against Polyester or other synthetic fabrics.

Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing this dress out without some type of hosiery or shorts underneath, but I do think it's do-able.  I love the full exposed back zipper, and it was very easy to work with on my own.  The bow on the zipper pull is kind of flimsy, but a cute touch I suppose.   Fit is true to size, and the shape of this dress won't give you curves.  If you are looking for a sexy appeal, this is definitely not it.

Color is not ideal for my complexion.  As you can see, it's almost the same color as my skin tone.  Juicy Couture calls it Ivory, but please know that it has a pronounced yellow/beigey undertone.  Color is also quite dull in real life.

As much as I hate to admit it, I like this dress more than I should.  But I certainly don't like it "$373+13% taxes" much, so it will be going back.  I pretty much knew that when I quickly slipped it on at the store but still wanted to bring it home to take a closer look.

That's it for now...until I find my next obsession.  Hope you are enjoying your Friday.

Almost? Not exactly the same...

Does this cardigan look familiar? Did you think it was the Game Field Game cardigan?

Take a closer look and you will notice some differences.  While this cardigan is by the same designer (purchased from Bloomingdales), it's a longer version of the Game Field Game, and instead of contrasting lace, this cardigan has navy colored lace.  If I recall correctly, the button color is also different.

I got tired of waiting for the Game Field Game cardigan to go on sale, so I jumped on this one when Bloomingdales marked it down.  It actually worked out well because I prefer the longer length.

Also, as I welcome my 13th follower, yes, we strive to be different here, and we are celebrating the big 1-3.  I wanted to peep my head out to say hello.  Thank you for visiting and taking the time to read my blog, I appreciate all the comments and encouragements.

Update: OooOO, and now we have 14.  :)

I am wearing:
Charlotte Tarantola cardigan.
Jcrew tunic.
Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots.
Club Monaco Stirrup (yes, you read it right, stirrup) knit pants.

Lastly, here's a sneak preview of a more indepth review to come.  If you need to catch up, read here.

Obsessed

Remember my obsession of all things that sell out at regular price?  I should clarify that it's an obsession driven by curiosity more so than a desire to own it.  This was the case with the Club Monaco Anna Skirt (see review here),  and now ladies and gentlement, probably just ladies, I am happy to announce that I have a new obsession...Juicy Couture Lace Shift Dress.

UPDATE:  There is one available on harrods.com in size 4 here.   According to Juicy Couture corporate store SA, this dress is sold out company wide.   As for my search, I think I may have lucked out and found one in my size.  So stay tuned.  I still can't believe a $300usd/$380cad dress from Juicy Couture can be so hard to track down.

I first took notice of it about a month ago on shopbop.com, thinking that with a $298 price tag I could probably stalk and wait for a sale/markdown.  Well, surprise surprise, the dress sold out really quickly...and apparently it wasn't just on shopbop.  It's also sold out on Revolve.com in the above color, as well as Saks.com, Neiman.com, netaporter, bloomingdales.com and Tobi.com.  I have contacted a couple Toronto stores that carry Juicy, and yep you guessed it, SOLD OUT!!...and now my obsession is officially in full bloom.  My calls to Saks were unsuccessful because I was told that Juicy Couture isn't carried in the B&M stores, and same was the case for Nordstrom.  Neiman Marcus does carry this dress in their B&M stores, but, size 0 is once again sold out along with pretty much all other sizes.

I have not given up just yet...we will see if I will succeed in tracking down this elusive beauty.  Oh, any tip offs would be greatly appreciated, or better yet a review or irl photos.

Oh well

Today was a good day...

You may notice that April is almost over and I am still wearing tights.  Yyyep, that's the kind of wonderful spring we have having here.

Secondly, my dress is a wrinkly mess, which I was not aware of until I looked at the photos.  I don't think it looked as bad in real life? at least no one said anything to me? or is it one of those 'lettuce in the teeth moment' that no one tells you until you catch it yourself?

Anyways, I'm glad Monday is over and we have more rainy days to look forward to.  Yip-peee!

I am wearing:
Loeffler Randall Ramona booties.
Club Monaco silk dress.
Jcrew cotton Forever cardigan.

Late to the party

Totally late to the Thakoon for Target party/bandwagon, but I am happy that I've arrived.  A big special thanks to my friend S who makes cross border online shopping possible for this Canadian shopaholic.

I have decided to keep the outfit neutral and instead of using the fabric sash as a belt I tied it into a bow around the collar.

While I am head over heels in love with this dress, I have to comment on the poor workmanship.  I was very disappointed to find lots of loose threads and unfinished stitches throughout the dress.  Even though this dress lacks in quality, the print and style is undeniably adorable.  I am beyond thrilled to have scored this from Target.com and welcome this new addition with open arms.

Also see Carol's (In Pursuit of Pretty Things) take on this dress here.

I am wearing:

Jcrew silver studded skinny belt.
Loeffler Randall Emmy boots in taupe.

Club Monaco Fitting Room Reviews

Andrea Dress here.  $198usd
There are lots of details on this dress.  I am wearing XS, the fit is generous, but that's the look.  It's longer than I expected, the length is definitely more of a dress.  Not bad overall.

I think this top is called Francis Blouse but don't quote me on it, price was around $149 I think.

This top was so darling on the hanger, it immediately caught my attention.  It comes with a black camisole, the stone embellishment is very well executed, I think they are sewn in as suppose to heat pressed on.  The peter pan collar combined with the stones gave this blouse a retro feel which unfortunately did not translate nicely on me.

That's it for reviews.  My friend and I also visited Zara and H&M, but unfortunately there was nothing that interested me enough for me to try on.

Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews

San Pedro Pencil Skirt  here.   $148 usd/ $178 (iirc) cad

The turquoise color is absolutely stunning!!  It reminds me very much of the ever so popular Jcrew aqua bow skirt. The color is just as vibrant as you see on Anthropologie's website, don't go by my photos.  I found this skirt to be quite high waisted (either that, or I need to size up).  The length was very work appropriate, hitting me about an inch above my knees.  I am wearing a size 0 and would say it's very tts, which might mean some people will find it fit small.   The style is fairly simple with a pleat at the back, totally timeless.  Overall I loved this skirt in terms of fit, style and color.

Diamond Lattice Dress here.  $158usd

I was half expecting this drapey number to make me look Flintstone-ish, but it was quite lovely on.  I liked this color on me and the dress was so light and comfortable.  The fit was really good, I am wearing 0 and quite happy with the fit.  The straps were a good length, neckline not too low, I was comfortable with the length, although some people may find it short.  Overall, a lovely number, except no pockets.   I would say this dress is tts.

Embossed Basket Dress.  here. $168usd

I was really bummed that I missed out on the Club Monaco Frida dress, which has a similar silhouette, except with longer sleeves and in black.  So I had high hopes for this dress.  Overall, it didn't disappoint, the fit was really good, I am wearing an XS and it was very comfortable.  I didn't have to fight with the zipper to get it on.  A typical problem for me with short sleeves is that the sleeves kind of stick up, but I think that's just me.  Overall, I liked this dress.  But I do have a couple complaints, this dress unfortunately had no pockets, and I am cautious with Anthropologie's pique fabric, I have a skirt of similar fabric and it really stretched out and looked worn after only a couple wears.

Perennial Bloom Shift  here. $248usd/ $288cad

This was my absolute favourite out of everything I tried on today.  The size 0 was a perfect perfect fit.  The only thing negative I have to say about this dress is that there're once again no pockets.  But other than that I have nothing but love for this dress.  It's a perfectly cut shift dress for me.  The fabric is a very thick cotton canvas, I don't think it has much give but I like the weight and the stiffness.  Unfortunately as always Anna Sui pieces are very expensive, even at first markdown I don't think I will be taking it home.

Gladiolus Skirt here.  $88usd/$98cad

I really like the floral print on this skirt.  It is very comfortable on, the pleats give lots of room in the hip area, the fabric is very soft.  Skirt itself is unlined and has no pockets.  I am wearing size 0 and really liked the fit.  I would recommend sticking to your usual size for this skirt.

Hace Sol Peasant Top $78usd

I don't know why I keep trying on peasant tops of this look, I never end up buying them.  Anyways, this top comes in black and white.  Cute but nothing to write home about.  I liked the fit, length was good.

If you are wondering, I was very well behaved and walked out empty handed.  I also have a couple Club Monaco fitting room photos to share, which I will post later tonight.
