It's clear to me that I am in desperate need of a hair trim.
On the subject of hair, did you know I use to have a hostile relationship with my hair? I mean don't get me wrong, we aren't exactly "happy ever after"...yet. Amicable would probably be a good term to describe our relationship right now. I have always been envious of those gals with stick straight Asian hair. I, on the other hand was 'blessed' with stubborn unruly frizzy wavy hair. During my younger days I've tried chemically straighten them twice...and both attempts failed. I've also gone through the phase of torturing them with that thing called "Flat Iron", but my initial zest was eventually overcome by my laziness.
Now that I'm older and clearly wiser. I, just let them be...let them be as unruly as they choose to be.
I am wearing:
Anthropologie Gull Wing dress (seriously madly in love with this dress).
Jcrew cardigan (thanks to S).
Repetto flats.
Club Monaco belt.

What a cute outfit! You know me, if it's not the belt I love its the cardigan. Or a mixture of both with that amazing dress.
I always have a moment where I hate my hair and I get tired of it. Once it even led to chopping it all off into a bob. But sometimes all it needs is a trim. BTW, I don't care what you say, I like your waves.
Complex Cardigans
I love the gull wing dress on you! And I love how you styled it with the skinny belt and cardi.
I'm one of those girls with stick straight Asian hair, and growing up, I always pined for curly or wavy hair. This was the cause of the disastrous perm I got in my early teens. The one thing about straight Asian hair is mine usually looks flat and thin... so the grass is always greener. :)
I love your waves... I'm glad you are embracing it.
This is a really nice dress. I hope it pop backs, because I'm waiting for it for months now :))
Looks great on you!

I thought it was just me! I've got straight but frizzy asian hair - if I don't do anything with it, it is a hot midly broom-shaped mess!
I just found out was poutine was a few weeks ago. As I love anything covered with gravy, I am hungry jealous!
jenn, oh i've been there too, my patience usually wear out before my hair gets good length (right now is the longest i've ever had my hair). why thank you. i have seriously tried for years to get rid of the waves, now i just accept them.
overcaffeinated, thank you! i love that dress, so so much! jealous of your hair! always look neat and shiny and sleek, totally drool worthy.
thank you dee, this is one of the pieces that i couldn't wait for a markdown and got it at reg price and i am so glad i did because i know i will be wearing it for a long time to come. hopefully you will find one too. :) good vibes.
lisa, yep, know what u mean? i usually have to sleep on my hair for one night before i can go out, if i head out the same day i wash my hair, oy...scary. i looove poutine, loooove anything that's got potatoes and cheese, loooove.
Ok, thanks to your blog I discovered the gull wing dress and got it on sale at Anthro just yesterday. My only dilemna is not being able to find the right cardigan to wear with the polka dotted version of the dress. What color would you suggest?? I tried the classic Jackie cardigan from J.Crew in navy, periwinkle, yellow but I was disappointed with the quality of the material.
hi joelle, congrats on your new buy, love the gull wing dress!
i would try a color similar to the trim, like in the orange or pink family, you can play around with light or darker shades to see where your comfort zone lies. Oh, and also i found that with the gull wing dress its important to pick a cardigan that's fitted and slightly shorter in length. or alternatively, maybe you can try this dress with a fitted vneck or scoopneck sweater and belt it. hope that helps.
I'll def try with pink now since that's the color of the trim and hopefully Club Monaco has a cardigan in that color. Thank you so much for the great tips, love your blog.
